Ealing’s Labour council has now spent £18.5m on resurfacing roads. £3.5m more than the Conservatives promised at the last election.
This has meant that more than 150 roads and pavements have been resurfaced since 2010 meaning that the boroughs streets remain in good repair. Even in the tough financial times Labour is delivering more than the Conservatives.
In 2010 the Ealing Conservative election manifesto promised that “Over the lifetime of the next council Conservatives will invest a further £15 million in resurfacing our roads and renewing our footpaths.”
Cllr Bassam Mahfouz Labour’s cabinet member for transport and environment said:
“The Ealing Conservatives are famous for never saying what they would do if they were in power. However in this case they have said in black and white exactly how much they would spend on roads and it is £3.5m less than Labour. This is clear evidence that Labour delivers a better deal for residents.”
