Ealing Labour get tough on spitters

Labour_circle_clear_stamp.gifEalings Labour council have launched a new campaign to get tough on people who spit in the street this week.

The council will work closely with the police and will issue spitters in Southall with on the spot fines. The campaign will be rolled out across the borough soon.

The campaign is part of Labour’s efforts to make Ealing safer and cleaner. After consulting with the local community we have heard people in Southall repeatedly telling us that spitting is a big problem. That is why the Labour council has taken action and launched this campaign.

Labour’s Cabinet member for community safety Cllr Ranjit Dheer said:

“Spitting is disgusting and has absolutely no place on our streets. Spitting paan, khat, or chewing gum also make a mess on our streets and is costly to remove. Local Labour councillors are doing all we can to stop people spitting on our streets. I am glad we have launched this campaign, it shows that Labour-run Ealing council listens to local concerns.”
