30,000 trees planted in Ealing

Ealing Labour’s 2018 manifesto pledged to plant 30,000 new trees in our borough, and we’ve hit that target.

The Queen of the Suburbs now has an incredible 250,000 trees, making Ealing more beautiful, cooling down our streets, providing shade on hot days and helping to filter pollution, making the air cleaner for all of us.

Councillor Deirdre Costigan, deputy leader of Ealing Council and cabinet member for climate action, said:

“In our bold 2018 manifesto, Ealing Labour pledged to plant 30,000 new trees in Ealing. I’m proud that by working with local people we’ve reached our target.

“Over the last three years, we’ve created a nut orchard in Elthorne Park, planted over 350 trees  on the Racecourse Estate, and planted 15,000 trees in the new Greenford to Gurnell greenway.

“And we’re not going to stop there. We know how important trees are to making our borough colourful, beautiful and an even better place to live. Ealing Labour is committed to making Ealing even greener and we want to empower local people to get involved too.”
