Kanwal Bains grew up in Dormers Wells. She attended St Anselm’s Primary school and worked in a local secondary school, where she interacted with children and parents in the community.
Kanwal has been an active member of her local community. She has taken part in several meetings and demonstrations against the closure of Ealing hospital over the years. She has also supported charities for the welfare of hedgehogs, dogs and other animals. Kanwal is a member of her local Gurdwara and helps there with classes for children learning music and their home language.
